A Folklore + Gory Grotesque Title! CIRCUS Sub-brand CLOWN's First Work Revealed!
At first glance it looked like a folklore work, but who expected grotesque elements too—CLOWN came out swinging with something big right away!
CLOWN, a sub-brand of CIRCUS, has announced the first title in its three-release barrage, 《ネモフィリア-We pass each other-》, with pre-orders starting April 24, 2026; the exact release date has not yet been revealed.
Story Synopsis
It is summer in Showa-era Japan, several years after the end of the war.
Hotaru, once a war orphan, was taken in by the wealthy Hiiragi family and spends every day busy caring for the young mistresses Chizuru and Mio, as well as handling various household chores.
A string of schoolgirl kidnappings has society on edge and drawn public attention. One of Chizuru's classmates has also been missing for several days, becoming the talk of everyone.
Once summer vacation begins, the group decides to head to Jishou-an, a shukubou (note: lodging provided by a temple for pilgrims) deep in the mountains, to pray for Chizuru's swift recovery from her illness.
They are greeted by the monk Kouten, but something about his blessing rituals feels faintly off to Hotaru.
Familiar-sounding sutras, a skull, and Aizen Myouou. The scene before her awakens memories of her past.
Just then, Chizuru, Mio, and Hotaru discover a headless corpse in a mountain cabin, and the situation takes a sharp turn.
A mother's love, a daughter's struggles, faith and deception.
If they stay here any longer, they'll be made into gods or buddhas—
Main Characters
Hiiragi Chizuru
CV: 結城ほのか
The eldest daughter of the Hiiragi family. Widely regarded as an honor student, but unexpectedly stubborn—she has flatly turned down every arranged marriage meeting her mother set up.
She was sickly as a child and often bedridden, but her condition has been slowly improving recently.
She makes no attempt to hide her fondness for the servant Hotaru, and is the type who will press forward boldly even with others present.
She is deeply worried about her missing classmate from the art club.
"Girls are such delicate, sensitive creatures, you know. If a girl is kissed by the boy she likes, her lifespan just might get longer…♪"
Hiiragi Mio
CV: 相模恋
The second daughter of the Hiiragi family. A girl who loves reading and is poor at socializing.
She is most attached to her older sister Chizuru, but has also grown close to Hotaru, the servant.
She isn't good at expressing her emotions, but becomes talkative the moment the topic turns to novels or books she loves.
She loves reading a literary magazine called 《乙女ロマンチカ》 and is the type who daydreams about romantic girls' novels.
Hearing that Chizuru will be staying at Jishou-an for blessing rituals, she decides to come along as well.
"…That's true. But I can talk to Hotaru normally now. I can actually hold a conversation. Aren't I great?"
