After 31 Years, the "Itou Family Three Brothers" Return! ELF's Classic《遗作》Remake Announced
Ever since Fanza announced the remake of《同级生》, everyone was probably waiting for this day—
While the original《遺作》isn't the most famous title, this work, with its complex and hardcore school-labyrinth exploration and its eldest brother Itou Isaku—the most proactive and most violent of the three twisted brothers—gave many players a taste of a pure and insane nightmare.
Now, 31 years later, FG REMAKE has finally announced a remake of《遗作》, the first title in the "Itou Family Trilogy" of《遗作》,《臭作》, and《鬼作》!
《遺作 リメイク》 will be released on December 15, 2026. The official website is now open, pre-orders will begin on August 28, 2026, and details about online sales platforms have not yet been announced.
The remake will feature remastered high-definition visuals, with character sprites and CG redrawn by Ueda Metao-sensei (上田メタヲ).
Ueda-sensei's art style suits this kind of work perfectly! The CG released so far for the remake is very faithful, though some scenes are colored a bit too brightly—it feels like something of the sense of despair from Mamoru Yokota-sensei's original art is missing~

Notably, this remake will be based on the Windows version, with adjustments made only to comply with current ethical standards, while the 3D labyrinth visuals, UI, and other elements will be optimized for FHD.
In other words, that 3D labyrinth exploration that left such a deep impression on many veteran players will still return in the remake—whether the gameplay itself has been improved remains unknown for now.
If it's still the original gameplay, then it really is the authentic "torture" experience.
As for what other adjustments and improvements the remake will include, no further information has been officially announced yet, so let's look forward to it.
